What’s y’all’s thoughts on Draughn baseball? How deep of a run can they make ?
Lady Wildcats fall to #1 ranked South Stokes. They end with 20 wins on the season.
Wildcats Baseball advances to 3rd round where they will host #22 Starmount on Tuesday (5/16). Draughn will be the heavy favorite and a win will most likely have them on the Road Friday potentially facing #2 Uwharrie Charter. Everything at this point will be a dogfight for the Wildcats.
Wildcat Baseball handles Thomasville 6-2. Cats will host #14 East Wilkes on Friday. Should be another dub and get them to Rd 3.
Lady Wildcats have a much taller task. They travel to #1 South Stokes, but make no mistake, this Draughn softball team is not the average @17 seed. This game could be the upset of the year thus far.
Draughn girls have a much tougher road this year. A Round 1 win tomorrow puts them on a likely matchup with #1 seed South Stokes. If they could pull off that upset, they stand a good chance of making it several rounds.
Draughn (#3 seed) faces Thomasville (#30) tomorrow at home. Should be a good win for the Cats. Looking ahead, they will probably face #14 East Wilkes in Rd 2 and then eventually, most likely Bethany Community in Rd 3. I like these matchups for the Wildcats. I expect them to reach at least Round 4 for a potential matchup with Uwharrie Charter (#2). That game looks like a toss up. Good pitching, solid defense and run production. If the Cats hold up, they can reach Regionals. After that, everything is a toss up.
Let you know my thoughts on Monday when the seeding and brackets are announced. I do expect them to have a deeper run this year.
